D-NET™/Westerlink™ Advantages
Westerlink allows the Westerbeke generator and several Westerbeke displays to communicate
via the same digital databus cable. This permits boat builders to significantly reduce both
labor and space normally required to run multiple cables throughout the vessel and eliminates
unnecessary weight. Westerlink also allows a Westerbeke generator to communicate with
a Westerbeke display at a far greater distance than previously possible.
Optional NMEA 2000® Advantages
Same as above except the databus cable facilitating communication can be shared by
Westerbeke and other NMEA 2000® certified equipment installed on the vessel. This may result
in a significant cost reduction as multiple cables and/or harnesses are eliminated. In addition,
the generator may be used as the power supply for the NMEA 2000 network.
